Dartmouth AFC Swifts kick off with a fantastic match

The newly formed Dartmouth AFC Swifts hosted their first in house match and held a fundraiser on Sunday the 14 of May.

In front of over 100 supporters, the girls played out a fantastic match sporting their new home and away strips which were Kindly donated by Cafe Alf’ Resco and Sophie Cowling Rae.

Battling

Playing at Longcross, the girls battled fiercely whilst being cheered on by their many fans when the break finally happened after Indie Hawkins slotted away for the away team giving them the lead. The game continued with both teams pressing and counter attacking when after some outstanding free flowing football, the ball fell to Neve Hunt-Jackson who curled in a shot to equalise for the home team. Both sides continued to fight for the lead until the half time whistle gave them a chance to refresh and gather their wits.

Throughout the second half chances fell to both sides but some amazing saves from both goalkeepers kept the game level until Mischa Curl poked another goal in for the away side making it 2-1. The game continued with both sides playing some end to end football until the ball fell again to Mischa Curl who hit a shot into the top corner.

Relentless

The girls continued with their relentless football until the final whistle and rapturous applause as the away team ran out as 3-1 winners. Both teams shook hands and shared some laughs as they headed off to get changed and enjoy the after game pizzas!

Fundraising

The fundraising event was a resounding success with over £1600 raised by selling raffle tickets for various prizes which had been Kindly donated by over 50 local businesses and supporters.
