TQ6 Community Partnership | actions

With the next meeting coming up, here’s some of the things we’re looking at

Action: Skatepark
The young people are making a film about all they do to keep it clean. Find out who owns the CCTV covering the skatepark.
Support the young people in keeping it graffiti-free (ie covering over graffiti).
Dawn will learn to skate.

Action: Young people listening event
Working towards putting this together

Action: Stagecoach
Try to get them to stop nearer the Health and Wellbeing Centre

Separate sub group to be set up around transport around other rural areas – in progress. Let us know if you want to join this. (see below – agenda)

Action: Health & Wellbeing Centre carpark
Disabled bays are a long way from the parking meters – call to change them
(underway, thanks to the town council)

Action: Create a better narrative on rural need
So far it is poorly told and poorly evidenced. Develop a rural delivery model.
Work in progress – Pam Barrett

Action: more people & decision-makers present
eg: Police; other housing associations; combined economy organisations; Connect to work; Access to working and training skills; Employment Support; Torbay and South Devon Hospital Trust; Fire Service.

TQ6 to move that forward

NB: importance of libraries highlighted: literacy; community; support; hubs; trusted places; for health. Should be part of Health & Wellbeing Strategy

– thoughts… while the library consultation is over, could the partnership offer some insight and input to the committee on DCC (we’d definitely be interested in following up for an article – the nature of the need for the consultation, the ideas about re-shaping library delivery, what libraries do, the spaces and events they hold beyond books)

The consultation was too long, loaded, and poorly organised (on a phone it was a nightmare).

We hope to be following up with an article on this – Lee Morgan

Action: Literacy space
During the conversation about libraries and the importance of them beyond lending books, the need for literacy support in Dartmouth Community Chest, for families to support their children.

Kate Freeman is coming to start a conversation with Dawn in May

Action: Co-location
Dawn has offered colocation space at Dartmouth Community Chest. Drop her a line to arrange details and what’s best. Summer timetable starts from Friday from 3 April (Tuesday and Fridays)

Action: Charlotte from Together Drug and Alcohol offered info and training about naxolone (see contacts and get in touch)

Notes:

We’ve already had requests from smaller and / or online meetings between the big partnership ones. Get in touch to arrange and continue conversations

We will be moving forward with solutions-based community journalism. The aim is to continue the momentum, keep a record and share the development and successes

Build future meetings around events: a service day; a skip day; a walkabout, or anything else

Next steps:

A commitment to carry on
Set up another meeting in two months
Circulate details and actions
Young people’s listening event coming up – who wants to be involved?

Next meeting:
Coming on the agenda!
Oil – heating! Cost of oil in rural areas, plus tariffs coming to an end. This will become urgent.
Dog poo – a town council issue that keeps popping (pooping?) up
Housing issues – mental health
Inexpensive childcare support (rather than 2 days) – drop in drop out – Holiday Activity And Food (from what worked well – from success to failure). Pilot CHAF…
Transport – create a Transport sub group to look into INNOVATION: ie, eg, etc, car share app; car park app; and something with the buses. Interested? Get in touch and come along to the next meeting

Got anything you’d like to add, get in touch!
